Why I have moved from Posterous to Tumblr
Paul Boag recently moved from Posterous to Tumblr. This made me consider whether posterous was really worth it.
Recently, they’ve started this sort-of “egotistical” campaign where they take a blogging service and compare 2 features they share and 3 features they have that the others don’t. To me, it seems egotistical because they don’t compare the entire service as a whole, they just pick three things they know the other service doesn’t do, and tout that as an advantage.
Different strokes for different folks, I say. Plus, I find Tumblr to be prettier. It is a bit unfortunate that I can’t import the posterous blog to here, but honestly, I agree with Paul. It gives me a chance to change the direction of my personal blog, and to discuss things with people that interest me.
Also, I agree with John Mayer, who said a while back that Tumblr was better than twitter because it sparked full fledge conversation instead of tidbits. So now, if I ever have something more to say than 140 characters, I can hop to Tumblr. I still have a purpose for Twitter though. It is a great outlet for frustration and quick crowdsourcing.
So, hello Tumblr! Hope to be posting to you very frequently in the future.
